Garbage & Recycling
KBB works closely with the Government of Bermuda’s Department of Waste Management to keep our island clean and beautiful. Our collaborative efforts and joint projects support KBB’s mission to reduce waste, eliminate litter and beautify the island through action and education.
Need to know information for residents of Bermuda:
- Household trash is collected once weekly. Click the link below for more information and to view the weekly schedule.
- Residential recyclables (TAG – tin, aluminium and glass) are collected every two weeks on Thursdays (western parishes) and Fridays (eastern parishes). Click the link below for additional details.
- The Tynes Bay public drop-off is free of charge for all private and light private vehicles to discard of their garbage, recyclables and other types of materials, including batteries, lightbulbs, air conditioners, wood and metal. The facility is open from 7am to 7pm year-round, except for public holiday hours, which are 9am – 12pm. It is closed on Christmas Day. Click the link below for further information.
Sanitation Workers Appreciation Ideas

Sanitation Workers Appreciation Day is celebrated every year on June 17. Sanitation Workers Appreciation Week is always the week leading up to June 17.
KBB encourages everyone in Bermuda to show appreciation to our island’s sanitation workers as often as possible, especially during Sanitation Workers Appreciation Week. Here are some ideas you can consider for sharing a bit of extra kindness with the men and women who work so hard to keep Bermuda clean and beautiful:
- Offer a thank-you note, cold drink or cookies to the trash truck crews in your neighbourhood and sanitation workers at Bermuda’s dump facilities
- Toot your horn and give a thank-you shout-out to the crews when you see them on the road
- Post about your positive experiences with sanitation workers and share your appreciation on social media (be sure to tag @keepbermudabeautiful and @bermudagovernment when posting)
Other ways you can participate include teaching your family about responsible waste management, proper disposal and the 3R’s – REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE.
